April 23 CCI of Russia discussed topical issues of turnover of intellectual property in the WTO and Customs Union
Within the framework of the VII International Forum on "Intellectual Property-XXI Century" at the Congress Center of CCI of Russia held a conference on the theme: "Actual problems of turnover of intellectual property in the WTO and the Customs Union."
It was organized by the CCI of Russia and the international partner network of law firms Customs & Corporate Lawyers. Moderator of the conference was a member of the Expert Council of the Committee on Budget and Taxes of the Russian State Duma, the head of Bar association Customs & Corporate Lawyers Konstantin Kurochkin. The event was carried out in the WEB-broadcast territorial CCI.
On behalf of the Federal Chamber of conference participants welcomed the Vice President CCI of Russia Vadim Chubarov. He introduced the agenda, emphasizing the relevance of the fact reflected in it. There is an active discussion between the owners and importers on the validity of the application of the national principle of exhaustion of trademark rights and the possibility of transition to the international principle. The business community, experts and lawyers interested in discussing this issue, including aspects of competition protection, consumer rights, as well as copyright holders, to locate production in Russia, stressed Vadim Chubarov.
Equally important is the theme of a single customs registry of intellectual property of the Customs Union. Agreement on the formation of the registry was made in 2010, but to date none of the trademark in the register is not included. Also, according to Vadim Chubarov problem deserves attention and royalties. Questions the need to include royalties for use of intellectual property in the customs value of imported goods is constantly faced by companies engaged in foreign trade. All of these questions are relevant to the business community and require appropriate solutions, concluded Vice President CCI of Russia.
