Post-release of the international conference «The protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the single customs territory of the Customs Union»

Bar association Customs & Corporate Lawyers (company-participant of the Customs & Corporate Lawyers), together with the Secretariat of the Customs Union Commission, the Expert council on the customs regulation of the Committee on budget and taxes of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Federal customs service of Russia acted as one of organizers of international scientific-practical conference on a theme: «The protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights on a single customs territory of the Customs Union».

The event was took places on March 15, 2011 at the Russian state Institute of intellectual property.

The conference attracted more than 120 participants - representatives of ministries and agencies of the countries-members of the Customs Union, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, international organizations, and organizations of rights holders and the business community.

With a salutatory word to participants of the conference were Deputy Chairman of the Committee on budget and taxes of the State Duma of the Russian Federation A. Kogan and rector of the Russian state institute of intellectual property I. Bliznets.

The roles of the key speakers were the head of Rospatent B. Simonov, attorney of Bar association Customs & Corporate Lawyers, head of the working group on intellectual property of Expert council on customs regulation O. Kurochkina, counselor of the Department of customs administration, the Secretariat of the Commission of the Customs Union M. Tunin, Head of Department of ensuring control of goods containing objects of intellectual property of the FCS of Russia S. Shurigin, customs adviser of the Embassy of China in Russia Zhang Jian, head of the project «Expopriority» of EXPOCENTRE G. Kalinina.

Among the topics to be discussed, particular attention was paid to the issues of regulation of intellectual property rights in the common customs territory of the Customs Union; problems and perspectives of guarding and protection of intellectual property rights in the Russian Federation and abroad, «Soviet» trademarks; the fate of parallel imports in the Customs Union.
